The market of available trawlers is opening up with more quality boats coming on the market and prices shifting slightly lower as supply and demand issues are balancing. The days of finding an attractive boat on mass marketing websites has changed. An increasing percentage of trawlers are changing hands privately- a quick blip and gone. Even aggressive shoppers miss out on boats that were never introduced to the public. Active buyers know that the dynamics of searching have changed and more success is coming through committed relationships with tuned-in brokers who have unique insights into availability and often connect a buyer and seller behind the scenes.
JMYS is uniquely positioned and deeply connected with the trawler community with special emphasis on premium quality brands such as Selene, Kadey Krogen and Nordhavn. From past clients (turned friends) relationships and our reputation as trawler educators, our connection to the community allows us to regularly communicate with many owners, and we often find ourselves being their first call when they start to consider their next move.
Searching has changed. Aligning with a broker who will listen to your plans, assist with preparation for ownership and advise on evaluating choices can enable you to fly below the radar and secure the trawler you have been looking for.
The seller’s market is thawing, we are actively working with many buyers and sellers, please reach out if you would like to discuss how we may be able to work with you.
We welcomed two available trawlers to our lineup in the recent months. These boats are both located on the east coast, and offer wonderful cruising experiences. Visit each listing and contact the broker to get aboard!
You may remember our two Kadey Krogen 58 listings – Miller Time and Tapestry. Both of these beautiful boats have sold and are back out chasing sunsets on the horizon with their new owners. The Seahorse 52 Paradox II also closed in Marco Island, FL. Sundance, a late model Nordhavn 35 hit the market and immediately went under contract. Although these boats have sold, their brochures will always remain available for educational purposes on the JMYS Listings Sold page.
Jeff spent a large portion of his career in the yachting industry at Nordhavn/Pacific Asian Enterprises. It was here that his love of trawlers blossomed, and this passion was shared with others through his articles about Nordhavn owners and adventures. These articles have all since been deleted from the Nordhavn website. We believe there is still a lot of helpful content and useful information to share and hope you will enjoy this collection of our favorites now posted on JMYS.com. Visit this page to read about Jeff’s fourteen years at Nordhavn!
JMYS YouTube just recently passed 25,000 subscribers! We have been busy creating content for our viewers, and these two Talk Through Tours of the Kadey Krogen 58 Miller Time and Nordhavn 62 Island Greeter are popular productions. Watch these videos and please subscribe to our channel if you haven’t already!
If you’re on the hunt for a trawler, you need to understand the current market. Your trawler buying team, most importantly your broker should be selected. Discuss the knowledge you have accumulated in your due diligence research with your broker so that you are better informed when the time comes to submit your offer. Your offer package has to be compelling enough to persuade the seller to pick you. Read Jeff’s latest Trawler Transactions article for Passagemaker Magazine to learn more!
JMYS welcomed a new broker to our team, Mark Pittman. Mark has hit the ground running, attending TrawlerFest with Jeff in September and has kept busy with his listings, Nordhavn 35 Sundance (SOLD), Nordic Tug 37 My Sidecar and Kadey Krogen 48 Wanderer’s Rest. In his free time, Mark spends time aboard his Tradewinds 43, Fancy, preparing her for the Great Loop!
